The Bison and Roads Steering Committee was formed in December 2006, when industry, federal and provincial governments, non profit organizations, RCMP, First Nations and crown corporations met to discuss Bison management issues, with a focus on Wood Bison collisions with vehicles on the Alaska highway.
This 2 day workshop ended with an action plan and a vision statement.
Bison herds on the Alaska Highway are managed in such a way
as to ensure the health of both people and bison.
